One of the major problems regarding teeth that people are facing nowadays is the Worn teeth. Due to the changes in eating habits, our teeth are getting exposed to variety of food stuffs and also the way in which we cleanses our teeth these problems of Worn Teeth can occur. These Worn Teeth can also occur due to physiological reasons that are normal in dentition.

  1. Attrition

It is the phenomenon by which loss of tooth structure occurs when the opposite teeth comes in contact with each other. This type of Worn teeth can be due to functional or parafunctional habits. Some of the minor tooth loss in this case can occur while eating or during speech but this is so minor o even notice down. The major part of Worn Teeth occurs during night when the person clenches his teeth and he does it in subconscious state. This is known as Bruxism.

  1. Erosion

In this category Worn Teeth occurs due to the contact of tooth surface with some acidic content of the food. Main causes here are the citrus fruits. Other reasons of Worn teeth in this case are alcohol consumption, drinks containing carbon, fruit juices and sometimes the gastro-oesophageal reflex also makes the content of teeth surface with acidic juices of stomach.

  1. Abrasion

This category of Worn Teeth belongs to the loss of tooth structure by the use of some foreign material. Use of brush in the oral cavity for long time and use of extra forces can causes the loss of tooth structure from the cervical part of the tooth and causes Worn Teeth. Having the pierced tongue or lips can be the other cause for having Worn Teeth in this case.

  1. Abfraction

This phenomenon of Worn Teeth occurs due to some forces on the natural teeth and the tooth loss can be seen along the gum line.
